November 25, 2025

St. Leonard - Crews spent the evening on the training grounds sharpening essential firefighting skills through hands-on drills and coordinated teamwork.

Firefighter crews practiced laying out and deploying attack lines, commonly known as cross-lays, ensuring each member gets valuable nozzle time to build confidence and proficiency. At the same time, apparatus Operators focused on pump operations during a simulated water-relay scenario.

Captain Langley continued advancing her expertise as a seasoned Pump Operator aboard Tanker 7, supplying water through a relay to Captain Terry, who worked with the crew on Engine 71 to refine line advancement techniques. This combined training not only enhances operational readiness but also strengthens morale, giving volunteers practical experience in a controlled environment.

Deputy Chief Schooley supervised the session and noted the strong teamwork displayed throughout the evening. He praised the crews for their dedication to improving performance and maintaining the high standards expected of the department.

The SLVFD remains committed to delivering exceptional service by ensuring its volunteers stay skilled, confident, and ready to respond when the community needs them most.
