| St. Leonard - Last evening, more than a dozen members of the St. Leonard Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company participated in an Operational Water Supply Drill. The training focused on laying out water supply lines and using specialized equipment, such as the HUMAT valve for water distribution to the fire ground.
Utilizing our two Class A Hydrant Pumpers, Engine 71 and Engine 72, crews practiced performing appropriate layouts from hydrants to the fire scene and connecting a secondary pumper to create a supply loop. Members also worked on communication and water supply management, reinforcing both technical skills and teamwork.
Specialized training on using tools like HUMAT valves for water supply management, is an effective and imperative approach to improving your safety during a fire emergency event. This type of hands-on training ensures our members remain proficient and prepared to provide efficient and reliable fireground operations in service to our community.
Shout out and thanks to our instructors, K. DeVries, and Capt. B. Terry for the opportunity to train and passing along their experience and knowledge!!
