Scientists Cliffs Brush Fire
By Assistant Chief Marc Richman
March 6, 2022
At 1626 hours 3/6/22 the St. Leonard Volunteers were dispatched to the area of Avavado Road in Scientists Cliffs for the reported brush fire. Brush 7, Jeep 7, Tanker 7, Chief 7 and Chief 7A and 7B responded at dispatch. Brush 7 arrived to find a brush fire that was running the length of a 75-100’ cliff directly off the Chesapeake Bay. Units from Company 7 immediately began extinguishing portions of the fire that were easily accessible from the top of ridge while Chief 7A made his away to the beach in order to get a better vantage point of the fire. Due to the inaccessibility to the fire because of the cliff North Beach VFD Fire Boat 1 was requested to extinguish remaining hotspots. Units cleared at 1730 hours.
This was the 13th of 15 calls for the day for St. Leonard Volunteers.
