On June 7th, 2015 at approximately 1444 hours, while Engine 72 and Ambulance 78 were standing by at Jefferson Patterson Park, units from St. Leonard VFD were alerted for the motor vehicle accident on Mackall Road in the area of Nostalgia Drive. The Rescue Lieutenant (R.Midkiff III), Squad 7 (Lt.York), Engine 72 (Capt.Buckmaster), Ambulance 78 (Graham), and Ambulance 79 (K.Midkiff) responded on the call. Rescue Lieutenant 7 arrived on scene first to find a two-vehicle collision, with one being head-on into a tree and established the "Mackall Road" command. Further assessment by command found the need to remove the drivers side door of the vehicle into the tree in order to gain better access to the patient. With Engine 72 coming from the 701 Box Area, they arrived first and performed the door removal with the E-Draulic Spreader. Once the door was removed, the single injured occupant was packaged and transported by Ambulance 79 to Calvert Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Command was then terminated and all other units cleared by 1515 hours.
