On October 26th, 2016 at approximately 1122 hours the St. Leonard Volunteers were alerted to the working house fire at 12984 Barreda Blvd. The Chief (R. Weems II), Engine 71 (Lt. Eckels), Squad 7 (Johnson), and Tanker 7 (S/O Bauer) immediately responded. Chief 3 arrived on scene first to find a one-story single family dwelling with a working fire in the back bedroom and established the "Barreda Blvd Command". Engine 71 then arrived shortly after and deployed their 200' bumper-line through side alpha to find the same and quickly extinguished the remaining fire. All other units assisted with checking for extension and ventilating the structure. Crews from St. Leonard VFD operated on the scene for just over an hour.
