Update: Firefighter Has Returned Home to Recover

April 27, 2026

As most of you know, during the Working Fire Incident on Planters Wharf Road April 18, 2026, our Safety Officer, Marcus Richman suffered a life threatening medical emergency in which the crew on scene performed CPR and multiple defibrillations. It was later determined that Marc suffered a Left Anterior Descending Artery Blockage, also know as the Widow Maker.
On April 23, Marc was released from the hospital. We picked Marc up from the Hospital in the same Engine that he responded to the call. When we returned to Calvert County, we were met with Engine 71, Squad 7, Tanker 7, Rehab 7 and Ambulance 77, who escorted us back to Company 7.
Marc advised on the radio that he was back in the County, returning to the station. Upon returning to the station, we had a very emotional welcome back celebration, along with some light refreshments.
Marc then returned home to begin recovery.
We appreciate everyone who prayed, reached out, helped, or assisted us during this time.
On behalf of the members of St Leonard Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Company 7, thank you. Please continue to keep Safety Officer Marc Richman in your thoughts and prayers as he begins his recovery.
