| Multiple Trailer Fires at Patuxent Camp Sites
St. Leonard, MD — December 30, 2025 — At approximately 4:07 p.m. members of the St. Leonard Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company were dispatched to a reported trailer fire at the Patuxent Camp Sites, located on Williams Wharf Road in St. Leonard.
Chief 7B arrived on scene and established command, directing Engine 72 and Tanker 7 as well as other incoming apparatus and Firefighters from Prince Frederick, Solomons, Huntingtown, Dunkirk and Calvert County EMS. On arrival, crews found that fire from the initial RV had spread rapidly to other sites on the campground, damaging or destroying property. Several campers and multiple vehicles (pick up truck and Box Truck) were involved, making for a difficult and challenging incident.
Due to the scope and size of the involved area, a working fire dispatch was requested to increase fire staffing and ensure adequate EMS resources were available on scene.
The fire affected multiple families within the campground. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Units from St. Leonard have responded back to the Campground to investigate several rekindle fires.
The Chief and Officers of the St. Leonard Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company are grateful for and deeply appreciative of the support and assistance provided by our volunteers and our mutual aid companies. We are a proud and dedicated team of all volunteers, committed to serving and protecting our community.
Units from St. Leonard VFD operating at the scene included Engine 72 (Lt. Schooley), Tanker 7, Rehab 7.
