On September 24th, 2015 at approximately 1518 hours the St. Leonard Volunteers were alerted for the Kitchen Fire at 3398 Broomes Island Road. The Chief (R. Weems II), Engine 71 (Capt. Buckmaster), Squad 7 (Sgt. Davis), and Tanker 7 (Garrett) immediately responded with approximately 10 personnel. Chief 7 arrived on the scene first to find a two-story duplex with smoke showing from side alpha and established the "Broomes Island Road" command. Engine 71 then arrived and quickly deployed their 200' bumper-line and found a kitchen fire inside the residence on side delta. The fire was quickly knocked down and remaining units assisted with checking for extension and ventilating the structure. Crews from the St. Leonard VFD operated on the scene for just over an hour. In addition this was Tanker 7's first call since being placed in-service with Board Chair D.O Baker proudly operating it.
