| St. Leonard, MD — The St. Leonard Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company recently hosted an Electric Vehicle Fire/Rescue training class, bringing together first responders from across Calvert County to strengthen their knowledge and skills on this rapidly evolving subject. The class was highly interactive, giving students from various agencies the opportunity to learn hands-on tactics and strategies for handling emergencies involving electric vehicles. Participants reviewed the latest safety considerations, suppression techniques, and rescue procedures unique to EVs, which pose new challenges for the fire and rescue service. “This type of training is essential as the number of electric vehicles on our roads continues to grow,” said Chief Ricky Weems II. “We are proud to provide education that benefits not only our company but our neighboring agencies and, ultimately, the community we serve.” The session emphasized teamwork and shared experiences, reinforcing the importance of countywide collaboration in emergency response. St. Leonard Volunteer Fire & Rescue extends its thanks to all instructors and students for making the training a success. |
