Evening Rush Hour Fly-out

St. Leonard, MD - During the height of Tuesday evening rush hour, St. Leonard Volunteer Fire & Rescue was dispatched to Route 4 at Saw Mill Road to assist Maryland State Troopers and the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office with a medical emergency involving a patient suffering from possible excited delirium with a suspected head injury.

Following emergency medical protocols, our EMTs quickly determined the need for aviation support and activated the Maryland State Police Aviation Command. Trooper 2 responded for an aerial medevac to the nearest trauma center.

Ambulance 78 staffed by EMT Guilford and EMT Currie-Flynt, along with Engine 72 led by Firefighter Brooks,, Company 20 Paramedics managed the on-scene operations and secured a safe landing zone for the helicopter.

All units cleared the scene after patient transfer was completed.
