St. Leonard Volunteers assist at House Fire in Huntingtown, MD On the evening of July 19, shortly before 10:30 p.m., St. Leonard Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company No. 7 was dispatched to a working house fire on South Solomons Island Road in Huntingtown, MD. Engine 72 (Capt. Terry), Squad 7 (Chief 7), and Rehab 7 (EMT Guilford) responded to the scene to support operations. Upon arrival, units from the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department had begun fire suppression efforts. Tower 1 from the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department arrived shortly after and was able to ladder the structure and ventilate the roof to assist with smoke and heat removal. Company 7 units reported to the staging area and were later assigned to critical tasks. Engine 72’s crew conducted a secondary search of the residence to ensure all occupants were accounted for. In addition, they initiated fire exposure operations to help prevent the spread of flames. Under the direction of Capt. Terry, the crew pulled ceiling materials in the attic area, exposing multiple heat sources, which suppression teams were able to access and extinguish effectively. After approximately two and a half hours of coordinated operations, incident command began releasing units, including those from Company 7. St. Leonard VFD commends all involved departments for their effective teamwork and swift response. |
