White Sands, MD — On May 4th 2025, crews from St. Leonard Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company 7 responded to a vehicle crash reported on White Sands Drive. Upon arrival, Chief 7 (Chief Weems) and Squad 7 staffed by Deputy Chief Schooley, Captain Terry, Lieutenant Weems, and Firefighter Weems discovered a single vehicle had left the roadway, vaulted a guardrail, and crashed down an approximately 40-foot vertical embankment. Deputy’s from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office were on scene and handled the crash investigation.
The driver was safely extricated from the vehicle with only minor injuries. On-scene assessment was provided by Company 20’s Basic Life Support (BLS) unit. The driver ultimately declined treatment and transport.
All units returned to service without further incident.
