On June 28th, 2015 at approximately 1904 hours, units from the St. Leonard VFD were alerted to the serious auto accident on St. Leonard Road, in the area of Parker's Creek Road. The Fire Chief (R. Weems II), Deputy Fire Chief (Richman), Safety Officer (Bauer), Squad 7 (Sgt. Davis), Paramedic Ambulance 79 (S. Harris), and Engine 71 (M. Midkiff) responded on the call. Chief 7 arrived on the scene to find a two-vehicle t-bone style collision with a total of two patients, one of which being trapped and established the "St. Leonard Road" command. Squad 7 immediately stabilized the vehicle and began extrication to free the trapped patient with the assistance of Squad 2. A helicopter was requested and members began ALS and BLS treatment of the patients. Once the trapped patient was extricated, he was transported to the landing zone where unfortunately due to the patients condition deteriorating rapidly, the flight paramedics and providers decided to ground transport to Calvert Memorial Hospital where despite the best efforts of everyone at the scene and the Hospital, the patient succumbed to his injuries. Our deepest condolences, thoughts & prayers are with the family & friends of the patient.
