Hello Neighbors and Friends,

The officers and members of the St. Leonard Volunteer Fire & Rescue Co.7 Inc. hope your fall and winter were healthy and safe. Both of these seasons were a busy time for us!

As a quick snapshot of our department, we currently have 129 Active members, including 79 that are Emergency Medical Technicians. Our department and its members had a busy yet rewarding 2019 to include the following:
• Responding to 2885 emergencies (Medical, Fire, Accidents/Rescues).
• Participating in over 5000 hours of Fire/Rescue and EMS training.
• Participating in over 14,000 hours of duty hours, these duties include building upkeep, apparatus maintenance and check offs, fire prevention, community outreach, etc.

2020 is on track to potentially be an even busier year than 2019, with the membership putting their all into helping our community. Since January 1st, we have responded to over 700 emergencies which puts us on course to respond to 2800-3000 emergencies this year!

So far in 2020, our department has celebrated by taking delivery of two new apparatus that will help our department continue to assist the community to the best of our ability. Our new Mass Casualty/Rehab Unit has been delivered and will be placed in-service in the near future, and our new Engine 72 (this Engine replaced the 1999 Engine that served our community proudly for 20+ years) has been delivered and already placed in-service, ready to serve our community.

While 2020 has already been an exciting time for our department, we want to note the tragic impact of the current pandemic affecting our country. The Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic has enveloped much of the time of the healthcare community and affected countries around the World, to include our own community. Our first responders are on the front line responding to these emergencies and will continue to serve our community without hesitation. We want to remind you to please continue to follow basic measures such as washing your hands often, following the current recommendations by the CDC and Local Health Department and any orders enacted by Governor Hogan. Following these guidelines will help protect your health and decrease the chances of spreading the virus especially to our more vulnerable friends, neighbors and loved ones.

Currently, Calvert County remains the only county in Maryland that has 100% volunteer Fire and EMS service! The success of our department is made possible due to the community’s amazing generosity and support. As we kick off our 2020 Spring Fundraising Campaign, we again ask for your continued support.

Your kind donations help us supplement our operational budget, and any support you can give to our Volunteers will help us to purchase much needed personal protective equipment, upgrade EMS and Fire equipment with technologies to help ensure the best emergency response and care possible for the community. Donations will also help us obtain additional training, help us support and host community events, and support the cost of running an effective Volunteer Fire, Rescue, and EMS Station and so much more. As always any amount of donation is greatly appreciated. Lastly, we are PROUD to serve the citizens of St. Leonard, Port Republic, Broomes Island and Lusby.

To donate online, simply visit our website at www.slvfd.org and click on the green button that says "Donate Today!"; The link will then take you to our PayPal website where you can donate via your PayPal account or with a debit or credit card.

Respectfully yours,
St. Leonard Volunteer Fire & Rescue, Company 7 Inc.
