By Assistant Chief Thomas Buckmaster
June 5, 2020

On Friday, June 5th, 2020 at approximately 0032 hours, the St. Leonard Volunteers were alerted to Northbound Solomons Island Road in the area of Calvert Cliffs Parkway for the serious auto accident. Promptly, Chief 7, Chief 7A, Rescue Squad 7, Engine 72, Ambulance 77, and Ambulance 78 responded. Rescue Squad 7 arrived to find a single vehicle on its side with one patient with their arm pinned between the ground and the vehicles roof and another patient trapped inside the vehicle. Rescue Squad 7 performed a tie back stabilizing the vehicle and began to remove the roof of the vehicle to extricate both occupants. Ultimately aviation was requested for both patients however they were down due to weather, therefore Ambulance 78 and Solomons VRSFD Ambulance 38 ground transported the patients to a local trauma center. Company 7 units operated for approximately one hour before returning with Chief 7 holding the "702 Command".

Units: Chief 7, Chief 7A, Rescue Squad 7, Engine 72, Ambulance 77, and Ambulance 78
