By Safety Officer Norman Bauer, Jr
June 30, 2019

At approximately 1120 hours on Sunday, June 30th, the co 7 was alerted for a vehicle accident in the area of Rousby Hall Road and Riverview Road in the 3-12 box. Squad 7 and 79 quickly hit the street, followed by Chief 7 and Captain 7.

Medic 101 arrived and reported a head-on style collision with one trapped in a ditch. Rescue squad 3 arrived and began stabilization efforts, and command advised squad 7 to assist Rescue 3 upon their arrival.

The members of company 7 quickly set up a tie-back system utilizing the side winch. Other members deployed the E-draulics (battery powered hurst tools) and began to “flap” the roof with company 3. After 13 minutes, the patient was removed via a backboard and transferred to awaiting EMS personal from ambulance 37. The decision was made to fly the patient and MSP Trooper 7 was called. Ambulance 79 handled the two patients from the second vehicle.

Units: Ambulance 79, Squad 7, Chief 7, Captain 7
